A career, now gone sideways

Mr. Seymour formerly consulted on manufacturing and print production matters, providing procedure and process advice, supply base management, and database and website construction.
He was previously Vendor Base Manager and Print Production Manager in the Worldwide Operations group at Claris [now FileMaker, Inc.] in Santa Clara, California, where he was responsible for managing the company's vendor base [consisting of printers, duplication and replication houses, and turnkey assembly houses], along with print production of documentation & packaging. He also initiated the printing & assembly processes for Claris' Irish subsidiary and worked with up to a dozen foreign distributors, plus several internal departments, to create localization procedures for Claris products. He worked with several West Coast vendors & Claris' publications group to develop electronic print Þlm production processes.
Prior to that, Mr. Seymour was Production Specialist in the publications group at Apple Computer, where he was the prepress & print liaison for the department. He also created the concepts for & art directed all photography for CPU & peripheral manuals while at Apple.
Mr. Seymour's other experience in publishing and design included being editor & production manager at Sandpiper Publications, Mountain View, California, where he created & edited Graphics Journal and was responsible for writing, editing, design, & production of Sandpiper's companion publication Printing Journal. Prior to that, he was art director & partner in London Communications, a small advertising company in Palo Alto, California. He also managed a small printing company and worked for several other publishing companies in the Bay Area, including Addison-Wesley, where he was technical graphics supervisor in the book division.
His industry activities included being a speaker on electronic color prepress at PrepTech '90, '91, and '92, leading a PBS seminar on electronic prepress, as well as a at panel member at a Society for Technical Communications seminar on localization. His awards included a Society for Technical Communications Award of Achievement for concept & production of photography for the Macintosh Plus manual, and a Communication Arts Best-of-Category award for Graphics Journal.
Mr. Seymour attended the Design department at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He is currently at work on yet another novel and another video.
